The Creative Behind Artistry Fair
Hi, I’m Alex. Artist. Engineer. Human.
I grew up feeling like I wasn’t the best at any one individual thing but had a wide range of creative interests. My silly cartoons and random stories about a donkey named Fred and his alien pal would end up displayed along my Dad’s shared office walls. I played with “toys” like my guitar, microphone and a 4-track recorder, which I consider my first foray into tech.
After years of working within the tech-centered hustle culture for the sake of someone else’s bottom line, I became creatively inhibited and completely burnt out. Fortunately I also became motivated to find a better balance, a supportive community, and to surround myself with fellow artists.
Two things have become abundantly clear: I feel most fulfilled uplifting others and there is injustice in the arts. Makers, crafters and doers everywhere are giving up too much of their earnings, filling the pockets of some individuals they’ll likely never meet. Some artists are struggling to be seen at all, while others are being replaced or ripped off by AI.
My respect for the arts, my tinkering hands, and my intention to build something better have all led me here. I created this space to support artists at any stage or skill level. If you’re human and you make some cool shit, I’d love for you to set up shop. You’re welcome here.
